Music Ministry

The place of music in worship and in the life of the church has been one of prominence since Old Testament times. Music is a powerful medium that can move mind and heart. Our faith is strengthened by the hymns and responses we sing, and the anthems to which we listen. Through all of these we hear the voice of God speaking to us. We encourage everyone to participate in the music ministry at Christ Church.

JOHN LEMKE! MUSIC DIRECTOR

The Music Search Committee is pleased to announce that John Lemke has been recommended and approved by Consistory to begin his part-time position as Director of Music and Chancel Choir Director at Christ Church U.C.C. John is employed by Milton Hershey School as an Instrumental Music Teacher. He directs the Trombone Studio at Millersville University, and is involved with numerous professional music companies and groups. John will bring his passion for music, his professionalism, and his years of teaching to our music program as he begins his tenure in mid-May.

RUTHANN RESSLER: CARILLON HAND BELL CHOIR - This choir's main function is to provide a musical Hand Bell offering once a month in the regular worship service and for special holiday services. The Carillon Choir rehearses Tuesday evenings from 7:00 pm. to 8:30 pm and is open to any adult who is interested in ringing his/her praises to God.

JEN HINTON: YOUTH AND CREDO CHOIR This choir is designed for teenagers in Middle School and High School. The youth learn to ring handbells as well as continue to develop their vocal skills through unison, two and three-part singing while paying particular attention to the changing voice. The Credo Choir meets each Monday from 7:30 pm. to 8:30 pm. in the Choir Room. The Youth Choir will practice on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm.

CHERUB CHOIR - This choir introduces children age four through first grade to the basics of music and singing as part of a group. The Cherub Choir sings four times during the choir season and currently meets each Wednesday from 5:30pm. to 6:15 pm with the Carol Choir in the Choir Room.

LITURGICAL DANCE CHOIR - This choir provides choreographed dance for special occasions during the church year and practices every other Wednesday form 5:30 P.M. to 6:15 pm. The Liturgical Dance Choir is open to youth and adults (male and female) who wish to praise God through interpretative movement

Hope you are all enjoying your summer break! Believe it or not, it will soon be time to think about our choir year beginning.Credo Choir will begin on September 8th from 7:30 - 8:30 PM. Cherub Choir and Carol Choirs will begin on September 10th and will be held from 5:30 - 6:15 PM and 6:00 - 7:00 PM respectively. Choir registration will be held following church service on August 17th and 24th. If you have any questions or concerns or will not be able to sign up at either registration date, please feel free to contact Jen! **FYI - I will be getting a new phone number!! BUT, I don’t know what that number is yet! So, I’ll have to pass that around to everyone once I know.
